About Katelyn
It all began.
Hello, I'm Katelyn (Katie) Monday [she/her], and I'm honored to be your guide on your mental health journey. Nestled in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains, I am the proud owner of Caring Mind Counseling PLLC. With a deep passion for helping others, I am committed to providing personalized and compassionate therapy to support your overall well-being.
I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a certificate in Addiction Counseling. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (#15304) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (#25857). I grew up on the Outer Banks and was led to the mountains!
I have concentrated my efforts in the area of addiction counseling and mental health counseling. When appropriate I offer clients the opportunity to explore and integrate creativity through art, ecotherapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and animal assisted therapy into the counseling process. I have gained skills in the area of incorporating the environment with other modules and techniques to help clients grow in wellness, connection, and happiness.
My primary approach to counseling is an integration of person-centered, EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapies, and motivational interviewing.
Some of my passions include immersing myself in anime, savoring captivating fantasy books, exploring the art of pottery, embarking on invigorating hikes with my pups, sweating it out in spin/cycling classes, and embracing the wonders of the great outdoors.

As a counselor, I see therapy as a collaborative process, you as the driver (the client) and me (the counselor) as a traveler on your life journey. I am here to support you on your journey through self-discovery, healing, sobriety, awareness, and/or any other areas of interest to you that are within my scope of practice. My role is not to “fix” you or tell you how to live or what to do. Rather, my role is to listen, support, empathize, challenge, ensure a comfortable, nonjudgmental space for self-exploration, and provide tools for you to assist your own psychological growth and development.
As the client, your progress depends on your commitment to the counseling process and yourself, while openly/actively participating. During counseling sessions, I may invite you to try animal assisted therapy, expressive arts activities, mindfulness, drawing, painting, writing, and connecting with the environment; this is a chance for you to explore and work towards your goals (this is an offer not necessary for treatment). I may offer a homework assignment in which we collaboratively discuss how to incorporate change, exploration, and awareness into your daily life. I have hope that our sessions will provide you with a space to intentionally achieve your goals, foster healing, and expand your happiness.
We are excited to embark on this therapeutic journey with you, and together, we can explore the incredible benefits that animal-assisted therapy can bring to your healing and personal transformation.
Our therapist Katelyn Monday, offers a unique approach to therapy that incorporates the incredible benefits of animal-assisted interventions.
