About Claire
It all began.
Seeking therapy is a courageous step, and it’s important to find someone who can empathize with your experiences and hold space for you to heal and grow. I’m Claire LeMoine (she/her), and I aim to offer a compassionate space where you can feel heard, supported, validated, and empowered as you work through life’s challenges.
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University, with a Body-Centered Therapy Concentration, and a Graduate Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. I also hold Level I & II Ecotherapy Certificates from The Earthbody Institute. I’m currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina, and I work under the supervision of a qualified supervisor.
As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to each client's needs, using various therapies like ecotherapy and expressive arts when beneficial. I also use positive psychology and strengths-based techniques to help clients tap into their inner strengths. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported and empowered toward meaningful change.
I’m originally from Louisiana and moved to the high country nearly eight years ago after falling in love with the mountains during summers spent working in Jackson, Wyoming. Since then, I’ve made this place my home. I met my partner here in Boone, and together, we’ve adopted three wonderful dogs from local rescues and shelters. The mountains hold a special place in my heart, and I truly believe they offer us space to learn, grow, and heal.
In addition to my counseling practice, I work as an advisor and instructor at Appalachian State University and am currently a fellow in the North Carolina Education Policy Fellowship Program. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dogs and partner, being outdoors, traveling, camping, baking, doing puzzles, practicing Pilates, reading, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
Availability & cost.
I am currently accepting clients interested in working with me to be put on a waitlist. As soon as the North Carolina Counseling Board approves my associate license, I will start offering sessions (hoping for March/April).
The owner of Caring Mind Counseling is working to get me paneled with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurance. Until then, I can only offer self-pay (non-insurance) sessions for $130 per session.
My Approaches.
I work with adults and young adults from all backgrounds, helping them navigate challenges like chronic illness, relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, career changes, burnout, and stress. I’m also passionate about guiding individuals through major life transitions.
As someone with chronic illness, I understand the emotional toll it can take both on the individual and their loved ones. I help clients cope with symptoms, manage the impact on relationships, and navigate grief and uncertainty. I also support those in high-burnout fields like education, healthcare, and mental health, helping them build resilience and find balance.
I believe that health, relationships, and careers deeply affect mental well-being. My goal is to provide a compassionate, supportive space where clients can explore, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall well-being. I draw from various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate expressive arts and ecotherapy when beneficial.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and I’m here to walk alongside you on your journey. The outcome of this journey largely depends on your willingness to engage in the process. As a counselor, my role is not to fix you or tell you what to do, but rather to hold space for your healing and self-exploration, empathize with your experiences, challenge your thoughts, and work alongside you. Clients who engage consistently and work on their goals inside and outside of sessions typically experience the most positive change. If you feel we might be a good fit, I’d love to schedule a brief 15-minute consultation with you to ensure we’re on the right path to support your needs.
